Those who have a child between the ages of 2 and 7 can not ignore the LEGO, these plastic bits that combine to form incredible constructions, but their story is long and complicated ... I give you the story ...

The well-known LEGO brand is a Danish toys producer who owes its fame to Ole Kirk Christiansen who in 1916 invented the famous bricks.
It all started in 1916 when Christiansen opened a carpentry in his home town where he manually produced home furnishings helped by his children and young apprentices. In 1924, however, the carpentry was hit by a fire accidentally triggered by one of Christiansen's two sons and everything was destroyed. The carpenter did not lose heart and opened a second bigger workshop where he could resume his craft. Unfortunately, however, the economic crisis of 1929 led to a great drop in sales and thus to the work, so the craftsman had the brilliant idea of starting to produce things in mignon format and those miniatures gave him the inspiration for the production of toys .

Christiansen knew a short period of time in the 1930s when yo-yo fashion began to widen, but it ended quickly as it started. From the remaining yo-yo pieces, he made truck wheels. The LEGO name was coined in 1934, it derives from the union of Danish words "leg godt" which means "play well"; Today the company claims that the term translated into Latin means "putting together" or "assembling". In 1947 Christiansen and his son Godtfred produced the first plastic bundles and in 1949 the company officially started production called Automatic Binding Bricks.

However, the bricks were still not perfect, they were not versatile and did not guarantee a great stability of the pieces they held so they were perfected in 1958 when small cylinders were added in the lower part to allow a firmer joint.
The different types of bricks were about 50 years ago. In 1963, it started to be used to produce the ABS plastic, which is resistant to the material. In 1968, Legoland park in Billund was built, entirely made of lego bricks, covering an area of 12,000 square meters and counting 625,000 visitors only in the first year of life.

In the aftermath, the park expanded more and started counting more and more visitors, in 1968 18 million LEGO packs were sold. In 1969, "LEGO Duplo" was marketed, designed for the youngest since they consisted of larger bricks (therefore not ingestible) which could however be assembled with smaller sizes so that children could be gradually moved From "Duplo" to smaller format.

Around 1960 the company had a great expansion both in terms of turnover and employees.
In 1974 the first omni appeared in the packaging "LEGO family", which became the absolute best seller.
Lastly, the collection was completed in 1978 with the confirmation of the omni, these have arms and legs adjustable, a typical yellow face on which is a cheerful smile. The omni were integrated into almost all models, to allow builders of popular roads, cities, and homes.

In 1988, the first LEGO world championship was held the following year, the "pirates" series was born, the first to deviate from the habit of producing smiles from their smiling faces.

The most common colors in bricks are red, blue, yellow, black, gray and white. Other colors later added and for a long time the company refused to produce green bricks for fear that the children would build military games, thus enfolding lego war games. Afterwards, however, this idea was abandoned and green bricks came into the market, along with new and different shades of skin of the omens.
