Lake of ifni - a wonder in the middle of the Atlas Mountains - Morocco

It lies at the bottom of a valley framed by the summits of the djebel Toubkal, the Ouanoukrim and the dome of Ifni. Its shores are made up of steep slopes except to the west where it is bordered by a vast stony plain, a geological formation called glacis. An immense landslide having barred the valley in which it is situated gave rise to the lake. The waters of the lake infiltrate the rock to re-emerge a few hundred meters below in the valley where its beneficial waters are used for the irrigation of the fields. Today, the lake is mostly frequented by tourists. They come to see the emerald waters of this lake shimmering in a high mountainous mineral setting. On occasion, they take advantage of the lukewarmness of its waters to bathe and refresh themselves.
