Hey Bianca, it is perfectly fine to not adapt to all behavior the Dutch people have. Most of the time I have a hard time as well with the so said culture the Dutch people have....For example sitting in a circle on a birthday to eat cake and brag about themselves. And talking with a 4/5 year old kid most of the time is far more interesting and in-depth than with an adult. So if your Dutch is on that level (and I know for a fact your brain is on a much higher level!) I'd love to talk with you!! Welcome to the Netherlands...enjoy your stay!
