The society seems to be built for two. We have buy-one-take one items; restaurants and bus seats and even dish orders that are only 'good for two'. Thus when you're single, walking everyday to and from school, eating at the canteen alone and don't have a partner to every party. Sometimes your friends tease you for being single. A steady supply of peer pressure makes you ask: Am I not attractive enough? Am I not friendly? What's wrong with me?

But wait, you have been single ever since and you love, right? Why the sudden twist? If you're starting to ask questions, you're probably a little bit envious of you friends thus your self-esteem goes down.

Here are things you may find useful when you need to keep your spirits up:

It's rough out there

True, especially when the rest of the gang have someone willing to do little things for them - walk them home, give them little something, etc. So if you don't have someone for you, better accept the fact. The earlier you do so, the easier for you to be happy even when alone.

Know your priorities

Stay focused on your priorities. Good for you, because you don't have to divide your attention, go ahead and give your goals your best shot. No dates on weekend means a time for your family, friends, studies and even for yourself.

Nurture quality friendships

Forget quantity, true friends are everything. So what if you don't have special someone? When your support system is really strong, like family, who are there for you to laugh with, to cry, to play and listen to your emotional shifts, everything will be fine. Friends are there to put balance in your life.

Take good care of yourself

Not because you don't have special someone you can't do things alone. Stay healthy and keep fit. Stay away from vices and don't forget yourself. Just because you don't have someone in life now is not enough reason to 'dirty'.

Save a lot

You don't go out on dates nor spend on something to buy your beloved right? Think of it as an advantage - you can save your allowance. Then you will be able to buy something for your family or yourself.

You are enough

Don't expect that having a girl/boyfriend is the most convenient excuse just because of peer pressure. It's good having one but even if you're with somebody, you still need your individuality. You will still yearn for a life authentic to you.

Ripeness is all

You can't hurry love. What's the rush? You're young and you deserve to enjoy your life while you're still unattached. Start a hobby and do what you have to do at the moment. Just be patient and wait. In time - in His perfect time - one perfect someone will find you!
