1886 Steam Powered Fun Fair Carousel
This Galloper Carousel Ride was built for the Studt family of South Wales in 1886 by The famous Savage Brothers of Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England.
It’s a 38ft 'three abreast' 12 section steam gallopers fitted with Steam Engine Savage No. 664 names Lady Golightly.
It passed through a number of owners before coming into the ownership of the Howard Brothers of Ashbourne. Derbyshire, England.
1886 Studt Family, South Wales
1912 following the death of John Studt it was sold to the Whittles of Camberley.
1948 Sold to Alf Whitelegg.
Sold to Peter Lay and toured for a while before being taken over by the National Westminster Bank.
1996 Jimmy Noyce started to restore the ride after being lost for many years.
2005 Bought by the Howard Brothers and fully restored a year later. It also had the Limonaire Frères 54 key organ installed dating from around the same period as the carousel.
134 years old and still providing fun for all ages.

Carousels are mechanical marvels, and it's nice to see true steam power still in use!
The steam engine was great and to think it was 131 years old.
I used to work at a theme park that has a steam engine still used for daily rides. It is now over a century old. I never worked on the train myself though.
