I am not sure, but it looks like the Australians have gone a bit bonkers. They say that the traffic lights are sexist, because they only have men on the pedestrian crossings.
In Victoria, they are planning to have an equal number of traffic lights with men and ladies. The lady figure will be an old 19th century type figure, and not a modern lady. To me it does not really make sense. The old 19th century figure is however a joke, the real figure would look more like the one below.

The question however is, will something like a traffic light figure make a real difference? Advertising still shows women cleaning, washing, cooking, while the men are doing the cool things, like drinking beer, watching sport etc. Will washing powder cell better when a man is telling his buddies about the good qualities of the brand?

This is funny. Probably some joker who sells traffic lights started this so can make more money.
Yes I think you are right, they are making money out of this, I wonder if they will change the men at work signs at roadworks to be female as well.
