In 2015 I left South Africa to go to New Zealand. I lived there for 2 years teaching people about God. I learned something that has become very important to me. It has to do with the concept of TRUTH.

During those special 2 years in New Zealand I came accross a wide variety of people, most of which had the same opinion about what truth is. The majority believed that truth was dependant, that its was based off of an individuals perception of things. But is that how things really are?

People who thought that truth is conditional often argued whatever we taught them by saying something along the lines of "That's your truth, not mine"
Throughout my experience however I came to learn this principle: TRUTH IS INDEPENDENT AND UNCHANGEABLE. Let me explain. If I run and slip on a banana peel, then the truth is that I ran and slipped on a banana peel. No one's opinion or perception would change that, the fact of the matter is that I ran and slipped on a banana peel. It doesnt matter how much one tries to debate wether or not I ran or walked, the fact is that I ran. And that is truth. It does not change from person to person.

I also learned something very important about living in the truth.

There is an old scripture that says: truth is a knowledge of things as they are, as they were and as they will be. It then goes on to say that anything more or less than this is of the devil. Now wether or not you believe that the devil really exists this still applies. No, it doesnt mean we can't read fantasy books or have an imagination, if that were true then we probably would have been born without one, but it does mean that we need to avoid the what ifs and the should sharks as much as possible.images (4).jpg
Never put off doing something good for the sake of a what if question. We dont know what's going to happen in the future, so if we are all hyped up on what ifs then we are never going tp end up doing something that will help us grow. We honestly don't know all that the future will hold, and so a what if question definitely is not a knowledge of things as they will be. "I dont want to run the race, what if I come last?" Well.. what if you fall and break your leg, what if you get cancer? What if you get robbed, or get into an accident on the way to the track? Yes, it is vital to plan and prepare, but what if questions like these are debilitating and endless.

Whilst what ifs are futuristic, should sharks infest the water of the past.
You know when someone does something really dumb? And you're like, you should have done this!? Or you should have done that!
Thats what you call a should shark. No amount of moaming, wailing or gnashing of teeth will change what happened in the past. All you can do is attempt to fix whats been broken, put measures in place to make sure it doesnt happen again and move on. That is it. By whining and worrying about something that should have happened (which is not a knowledge of things as they were by the way)
All you accomplish is to sink yourself further into the pit of despair. And thats all that can happen when you dwell on anything that is not truth.
