My Father's Relationship Secret

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Many years ago I learnt a beautiful lesson from my father. I asked him to teach me about relationships and how he and my mother share a really special one, he told me the following:

Whenever you're angy about something that your spouse has done and an argument breaks out, always make sure to keep the argument focused on the one thing that is causing the current argument and frustration. Never let the argument escalate into irrelevant finger pointing, if there's something that is bothering your partner at the moment stay super focused on that until it is resolved but never let the argument take off.

How very true. Anyone who is truthful will understand exactly. This also applies to friends. Escalation is like an avalanche. It's almost impossible to stop once underway.
