Hungover Thoughts on messing up.
Here's to all the failures,
To all the fucked up designs that never worked
to the cracked and broken stones,
to the ever growing scrap pile that ''i'll do something with one day''
to the tiny things lost down the floorboards forever
the ''that'll have to do's''
the bloody wounds where tools slipped
to the repeated mistakes,
the repeated mistakes,
to failure!
Some days I wish there were less mistakes but I am thankful for my failures. They have helped me to learn and grow beyond what was previously possible.
If you're a creative maker I'm sure a lot of this will resonate with you, and perhaps made you smile!
Can you tell I'm hungover today!
Embrace the Mistakes

I hear you Rob. In my world some of the materials are very unforgiving. It used to just make me nuts when I screwed something up particularly near completion. Would depress me for days. I'm healthier now that I have a ritual where I cut up whatever I have screwed up and say out loud "I am done with you, lesson learned, time to move on." Or something similar. If I kept the messed up thing around I would spend way too much time thinking how I could fix it or make something else with it. For my brain to reset, the thing has to be GONE. I am funny that way.
Yes! I've got this carrier bag full of scrap copper wire. It really bothers me how much is in there! I've got the equipment to melt it all down into an ingot but it's going to be a full days worth of melting. Eventually it could be re-made into wire if I get a rolling mill, one day!
Ah, the wall/corner/bucket of shame - one can not become a true master of the craft without it. :)
Ha no doubt!
If only we could be perfect all the time.
We do need more forgiveness in this world because we all make mistakes.
The challenge is learning from them.
