Due to a sad series of events steem is no longer decentralized nor censorship-resistant.
I don't know how it will look like in the future but right now it's more like a personal database than a proper blockchain.

The problem is not one of not enough food.
The problem is one of hierarchical power structures and their destructive ways.
Take Venezuela, some of the best soil / climate on the planet. The people in the cities are starving, the people out in places govern-cement ignores are doing just fine.
How do you feel about building a farm (lots of work) and then the very real probability that it won't be your farm come harvest time?
And the way The U.S. handles aid to impoverished nations is to keep them more impoverished. Instead of helping grow farms, they actively undermine the market in growable foods. Would you raise chickens if you could get eggs for free from the boat?
You're right. There are enough resources but lots of other factors lead to them being wrongly distributed.
