Achieving Inner Peace and Happiness

Being productive and happy can go hand-in-hand. As we've seen in recent years, productivity has become more important to businesses, especially when competing against a younger workforce who enjoy working from home.


It's also essential to our health and well-being. A 2014 study found that people who feel happier are healthier. It turns out that happiness actually helps us to live longer!

But achieving inner peace and happiness isn't easy. There are three main factors that contribute to our mental health.

  1. Being Present

A 2012 study found that people are happiest when they are present. In order to achieve this level of happiness, it's crucial to be mindful. This means paying attention to what's going on around us in the moment.

When you're able to detach yourself from your problems and concentrate solely on what's happening in the present, it feels good. For many of us, this can be easier said than done, though. We can't avoid our thoughts entirely, so we try to distract ourselves in order to avoid feeling too stressed or anxious. Unfortunately, this only exacerbates the problem.

  1. Finding Meaning

What we do is important, but not everything can be reduced to a dollar value. Our work contributes to something greater than just our personal self-satisfaction.

This can include providing a sense of fulfillment for our clients or helping others in need. For some people, this comes naturally.

For others, finding meaning is harder. But it's important to make a conscious effort to focus on the things we do. This is called "flow" - when we're completely immersed in our activity, we feel so passionate about it that we lose track of time and forget about the outside world.

  1. Focusing On Self Care

The last factor that influences our ability to achieve inner peace and happiness is our own personal self-care.

When we take care of ourselves, we'll feel more energetic, happier and more productive.

Self-care includes taking time to meditate, exercise, eat healthy foods, get a good night's sleep, practice gratitude and focus on self-growth.

Ultimately, we all want to be happy, but sometimes we need to learn how to let go of our wants and accept that certain things in life don't always happen. And that's okay.
