RE: Before You Quit Your Day Job Read This

in #life8 years ago

This is such good advice -- even though it's tough for some people to hear. I worked solely as a freelancer for a few years before returning to full-time in-house employment. I still enjoy taking on freelance work and am working hard to build up a solid side hustle. But I have a much better understanding of what it takes to support myself as a freelance writer now, and will be much more cautious and prepared if I ever choose that route full time again in the future.

Yours is the advice I wish I'd heard in school. And again as an optimistic young adult. Thanks for sharing.

I learned this, as you learned, from the school of hard knocks. I have been "almost there" three times since I started my journey. Each time I had bad thoughts about it and didn't pull the trigger and go full time freelancing (quitting my day job in the process) and all three times things went to crap and I would have been in a very bad position (this is what got me to thinking about the nest egg side of things).

You will get there when the time is right for you.

Thank you, I am glad this article is doing well as there are a lot of people here on #Steemit that need to read it and understand their position in their freelancing life before they make any hasty decisions.
