A Brief Pause to Honor the Fragility of Life...
We get a lot of the "characters" who call our town home come drifting through the Red Dragonfly gallery. Some are infrequent visitors; some stop in almost daily... perhaps visiting local merchants and chatting is the only social contact in their day.
A short while ago, one such "character" (who has been a fixture in town for over 20 years) stopped in and — in a clearly shaky voice — announced that some he'd known a long time ago (and had a relationship with) had just committed suicide.
Having share this, he said "I just had to tell someone," and left... as suddenly as he had appeared.
The incident served as a poignant reminder of just how fragile life is... and how the storms that seem to perpetually buffet some people's lives can turn out to be too much for them, so they choose to leave this plane of existence; the pain of being alive simply too great for their fragile beings to handle.
Is this post "relevant" to our blog here?
In a sense, yes it is, because we deal with a lot of people who might fit the stereotypical profile of "the tormented artist."
Let us not forget that life is very fragile, for some people. Just because YOU have it all dialed in doesn't mean the person next you isn't "hanging by a thread."
Kindness matters. Compassion matters. Honor the fragility of life!
