To All the Silent Sweat Equity Partners of Steemians, I Thank You.steemCreated with Sketch.

Last week I read a post from one of my favourite Steemians, @papa-pepper

After staying up late until 1:30 am, working on his own steemit stuff, his wife, mama-pepper, suggested that he not set the alarm clock, in an effort to try to sleep in and just wake-up naturally.

He took his wife's advice, didn't set the alarm and woke up shortly after 6 am.

In case you missed it, here's papa-pepper's original post on the topic:

https://steemit.com/footwear/@papa-pepper/til-the-importance-of-proper-footwear-when-hunting

As a side note and a way to conclude his successful hunting account, he included a picture of 2 of his 4 kids. The were wearing cute little dresses and kerchiefs holding their hair back in front of a beautiful pumpkin pie they were making together as a family.

I mentioned what a beautiful job I thought "Momma" did making her pie pastry.

Making pastry is an art at the best of times. In my world, it's right up there with stars and planetary alignments all coming together in the right sequence. It takes perfect conditions, just the right amount of not handling the dough too much combined with the correct portions of the right type of flour, water and temperature. There's a lot of details to get right before the dough gets too warm or overworked.

Momma's pastry looked beautiful. She had taking the time to make leaves which it looks like she had cut-out from her left-over pastry dough, after she had lined her pie plate. She used these leaves to decorate the rim and provide the finishing touch to the pie she was preparing for her family. The really interesting thing about these details to me, is that Momma is currently the mother of 4 children with one on the way. Her oldest is 6. She's also homeschooling everyone...I suspect maybe even Papa too,... in a few areas.

Papa is the first person to give credit to Momma. He knows that she is a miracle worker and he's not sure how she does what she does in any given day. He shares comments that he receives with her that are directly related to her and her efforts.

Everyone can benefit from genuine praise.

Acknowledgment helps and is a great self-esteem booster. I think that everyone needs acknowledgment every once in a while.

I was so moved by the few comments that I exchanged with Papa to share with Momma that I thought the whole topic was worth writing about.

I know that beside many great Steemians, there is a "silent sweat equity partner" who's helping us to blog as much as we are.

It starts with love, and is supported by a lot of faith and is pinned together with hope.

Ultimately hope that, through Steemit efforts, a new way of living will emerge as a better lifestyle for all of us.

So, each of us currently contributing to Steemit in our own ways, is holding space, so this can occur.

My silent sweat equity partner's name is Dan.

He doesn't like to be in the spotlight and isn't thrilled about having his picture taken, so just know, when you see these man hands in my posts, they belong to him and he has agreed to help me with a component that I find really difficult.

In this case, it was cutting turnip. Now, you might think that cutting turnip is no big deal but last year, I was cutting a huge cabbage to make saucer kraut and sliced my thumb. It was disastrous because I'm a massage therapist by profession and we couldn't get the bleeding stopped. We had to use crazy-glue to seal the edges of the cut together and I couldn't work. As a result, Dan helps me with these things and I take the pictures...to save my digits.

Sometimes, he is taking the pictures, when a selfie, just won't cut it.

Yeah, try to get a full teepee inside a museum, in a picture without any other people in the shot, by yourself. Tricky to do, but easy when you have a supportive partner.

More man-hands. On this day, Dan peeled 14 lbs of apples for a post I did about dehydrating apples.

He built me this garden barrel and filled it with soil, so that I could plant it and I blogged about the process.

He held a pair of vapourizers so that I could take a better picture and blog about my review of them.

These are just a few small things that come to mind straight away. There are literally hundreds of things that Dan has silently helped me do...well, mostly silent, since we joined Steemit.

I am very thankful for his help and support over the last 4 months.

I, like Papa, have stayed up late at night to work on Steemit stuff and I've gotten up early to do the same.

Our lifestyle has changed greatly in how we currently are spending our spare time.

I just wanted to say that I couldn't do what I am doing on this platform alone and I know that I'm not the only person who shares these feelings.

Thank you to everyone who is contributing towards making Steemit a wonderful lifestyle.

Your efforts are not going unnoticed and I for one, appreciate everything that I am seeing and reading.

Momma your pie pastry is incredible. You are doing a fantastic job. I noticed.

I welcome your comments and invite you to follow me on my journey.

Here is the picture that you referenced.

Mama-pepper came over and sat on my lap so we could read this one together.

She says, "I really appreciated you taking notice. It encouraged and blessed me!"

(The girls did a wonderful job helping too and they had a lot of fun together. We just finished the last pie of the four for dessert tonight.)

Well, I think Mama-pepper is an incredibly supportive person who is managing the Steemit lifestyle change beautifully. She seems very grounding for you. :)

I could sing here praises all day long!

Thanks for taking notice!

It was the least I could do.
Since joining Steemit, our lifestyle has changed quite a bit. It's a major accomplishment when 2 people in a relationship can both equally manage the changes without one person becoming resentful or bitter. The whole topic is multi-faceted.

This is what I get to come home to!

Marinated Sirloin Tip, Broccoli, and Mashed Potatoes!!!

Makes me appreciate that unseen other half of the steemian all the more!

It's an incredibly beautiful thing, in every way.

papa pepper is one of my faves too! :D

That is a sweet, sweet post. That looks like a Swede turnip or a rutabaga. Sometimes, I think a bandsaw is the best tool for cutting them. Watch out, Dan!

Thank you.
Rutabaga and this time of year, they are coated with wax to help preserve them.
That makes them slippery too. :)

Then Dan needs double caution with that big knife - get the bandsaw! ; )

beautiful post and yes, there is always a supportive person who so often doesn't receive credit, nice acknowledgement here for mama pepper and dan. some day I may credit you for inspiring me to post on this subject too ;-)

Thank you for commenting @natureofbeing!
I am honoured that this may have sparked some personal reflection on this topic for you.
I do think that there are some interesting social discussions that could stem from this.

I have done more than a few bits of mostly uncredited work on friends posts in my time here. I think it helped them get better recieved, and encouraged them. I like it when the supporting bystanders dive in though 😁 I think a new phase has begun. A lot of people will get off the sidelines now.

Thanks for commenting @l0k1.
I agree with you whole heatedly.
I think that your help has directly helped others on Steemit a great deal.
I really appreciate that and we are lucky to have you among us. :)

Another great post, your stuff is some of the best on here as per our chats, the work you put into the posts is great. I sigh some days but try to carry on with mine.

Everyone can benefit from genuine praise.

When you said that, nailed it. ..... sorry I am so behind on supporting you. Some days are better than others for me

You are doing a great job Barry! Just look at how far we have come in such a short time. You have figured so much stuff out, all on your own, and everyday I think we both get a little stronger. Never thought in a million years that I would achieve a rep score 60+ yet, here we both are in about 2 weeks!

I think your 50 to 60 mark came a lot quicker than mine LOL. I did take that month off here and I think I mentioned I was disheartened at some of the numbers on here but as your post earlier mentioned, it is good to have encouragement.

I'm trying my best to rack up as much SP before the end of the year. :)

Great plan -- I decided weeks ago to do the same, I think we will be OK, lol, I hope so anyways

This was a precious post, and it still means a lot to us! Thanks for everything. I'm still preparing that package for shipment, but soon enough!

Thank you! Oh, this post seems so long ago, doesn't it? Please send your return address/ family last name along with...I made @mama-pepper a "one of a kind" wreath for your house and I'm pretty stoked about it. (It's a new artistic medium for me.)
It's made from dried milkweed pods and road-kill, foraged turkey feathers....it doesn't sound so great when I describe it this way...LOL!
It's actually a "teaching wreath" and I wrote a post about it, thinking that when you receive it, you can use it to teach your kids if you and Mama want to. (I was thinking about the whole metamorphosis-thing and the correlation between our own human transformation as we evolve, but I hot glued many lessons in there, including the one it taught me.)
Rebecca ;)
