Are we currently still in a solar maximum? I know the sun has 10 year cycles in which it varies in the amount and size of solar flares. Is this sort of normal sun behavior correlating to the sun cycle we are in?

Hello K,
The sun is heading toward solar minimum now. Sunspot counts were relatively high in 2014, but are now heading toward a low point expected in 2019-2020. While intense activity such as sunspots and solar flares subside during solar minimum, that doesn’t mean the sun becomes dull. Solar activity simply changes form.
