On Aug 1, 2007, the Interstate-35W freeway bridge in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S. collapsed over the Mississippi River. It was carrying rush hour traffic and many vehicles and passengers fell into the river. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the incident that killed 13 people and injured 145.

A fourth-floor walkway collapsed and fell onto the second-floor walkway which eventually crashed onto a crowded dance floor in the lobby at the Hyatt Regency Kansas City hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, killing 114 people and injuring more than 200. Investigations revealed that the original design of the walkways was considered too difficult to construct and was replaced with a flawed design.

A 100 feet (30.5 m) section of the Interstate 95 bridge spanning the Mianus River collapsed in Greenwich, Connecticut, killing three people and leaving three seriously injured. According to an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, the incident occurred due to the failure of two pin and hanger assemblies that kept the deck in place.

The collapse of Seongsu Bridge over Seoul's Han River occurred because of the suspension structure failure caused by improper welding. The incident killed 32 and injured 17 people.

The Rainbow Bridge crashed over the Qijiang River in Chongqing, killing 39 people and injuring 14. An investigation revealed that the tragedy took place due to careless workmanship and use of inferior materials.

The Hintze Ribeiro bridge tragedy at Entre-os-Rios killed 59 people travelling in a bus, while three cars tumbled into the Douro River. The reason behind the collapse was uncontrolled sand extraction which made the pillars of the bridge unstable.

This incident claimed 30 lives, including 28 schoolchildren, who drowned and died when the school van they were traveling in along with a few other vehicles plunged into a river after the concrete bridge collapsed due to heavy rains.

Six workers were killed, three were seriously injured and one was listed as missing after part of a highway bridge under construction collapsed near the southern Spanish city of Granada.

A pedestrian bridge collapsed and crushed a railway train compartment in Bhagalpur, Bihar, India, wherein 37 passengers were killed and around 50 were injured. The 140-year-old foot bridge was in the process of being dismantled when it collapsed.

The Silver Bridge, connecting Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and Kanauga, Ohio, collapsed during rush hour sending numerous people into the icy waters below. The incident killed 46 people and injured nine others. Investigations revealed that it occurred due to a suspension chain failure.

The Quebec Bridge collapsed when a portion in the center slipped and fell into the river as it was being raised during construction. Thirteen workers were killed in the accident.

A foot bridge collapsed along the river in Chunchu village, about 310 miles (500 kilometers) west of Kathmandu, killing at least 15 people. Some people were reported as missing after support cables of the bridge snapped. The incident took place as people had gathered for a local Christmas Day fair and were crossing the bridge.

A large section of the Cần Thơ Bridge collapsed during construction, killing at least 54 people and injuring around 80. A temporary pillar set on soft sand gave way, resulting in the collapse of the bridge.
