Restless Mind Syndrom

in #life8 years ago

I'm reading a great article on IQ and this guy says a thing that really makes a lot of sense to me:
If you can't focus, you are stupid!

Let's be honest here for a second, who has trouble focusing around here?!
I mean, since crypto went berserk and I got more and more into this, my focus or at least my laser-like, very productive focus is off by a mile. DID CRYPTO MAKE ME STUPIDER?!

I guess there's a case to be made that it did. But also a case that it didn't. But by the definition above...it sure did.
I don't mind it cause I always always try to remember:
--- IT IS ALWAYS YOUR FAULT!! ---
Like, look at the words I used: crypto MADE me. This is me passing respoinsability to "crypto" ( does anyone has his number, I need to have a word with ... ). I am like, it's not my fault it's like this whole crazy phenomen that is happening.
People do that all the time: You make me angry, You make me feel sorry that.., you make....bla bla bla.

Listen, you know this: no one can make you anything. You are, to a lot of extent, in charge and control of your emotions. Maybe "I allowed you to make me angry" is a better description...I am not sure. Anyway, what I want to say is this:
A restless unfocused mind is a stupid mind. I think that's true and everyone can see it.

2 things I'm experimenting with now for a little more focus-like work:

  1. Meditation

I am trying for a long time to get a real "practice" going. I am very simpatico to the idea of meditation but it is very hard to stick to it which makes me think I actually don't REALLY want to do this. But it's good for me so I'm persevering. So far I do not see many benefits but there are minutes when I get into that nice flow and give me hope that maybe I'm close...

  1. Saving one hour a day for full on work

One hour with no distractions, plans, phone or anything else just focusing on a task. It's surprisingly hard and I notice that times seems to passes differently. One hour is such a long time. I wonder what I could achieve with more of these hours.

Lastly, read the damn article for more interesting approach to everything and if you want EVEN more research into this, there's a great book right here.

Sort:

Meditation is definitely somethings that improves a lot mentally and even physically. I am struggling to fit it in my daily routine for some time now. And is my fault because I let myself be distracted by all sorts of stuff :)

yeah I know the feeling. even 10 minutes in the morning seem like a struggle...

For me, the big distraction was multitasking. You can easily fool yourself into thinking that you are distracting yourself because it is all important work. However, I have been much more productive have laser focus on one task at a time.

I don't know if you are a coffee drinker but if you are....quit for one month. Like, really quit caffeine than come back to me and thank me. Trust me, you will thank me.

I will never thank someone who stands between me and my love for coffee!!! NE VER

@razvanelulmarin

"Stand between you and coffee!!! NEVER." You made laughed hard.

No. It's "I allowed you to make me laugh"

I have used the second method very well @zemiatin....... It works. To be focused, try been more focus by intentionally holding up every other things and spend an hour perday on the work at hand. It helps your psyche.

day after day, you will see that you are becoming disposed naturally to having things done without distraction.

One day, you would have been 3 hrs out completely focus before realizing how good you have become.

No probs, but we all know how "love" can destroy us sometimes.

Interesting, let me know how the meditation works out. I have been feeling a lack of focus and motivation lately.
