You know the system is broken, when you are taxed 2x from your pension.

Many have left my hometown... People work hard abroad to earn a pension, but once they return, they find out they must pay tax. Yes tax from pension.
For foreigners, this is one of the reasons why perhaps even in old age not return to Latvia due to material reasons and injustice.

As example someone at the age of 50 was forced to leave the country, went abroad, working hard, and now he is still taxed when returns to Latvia where he doesn't get a pension. Double taxation occurs...
an interesting aspect is the fact that there are currently tax conventions with the United States and Russia, which stipulate that in both countries there is no such double tax in these cases. "The question arises as to whether, given the fact that an increasing number of Latvian citizens live in Europe, is it not justified to think that such a right to maintain an untaxed minimum should exist in European countries as well.
In recent years money transfers back to Latvia reach levels of both the defense and the health budgets.
And you will get taxed if you send too much to your relatives via banks!

I see bright future, because we have crypto now, and not a single ban can stop us!!!
Viva la revolution!!!

I mean I'd pay tax happily if it actually went to develop the infrastructure of the country and especially the city I live in, but it mostly goes in the pockets of those that collect tax, once they feel their pockets are running "thin" (just think about it, what is 5k EUR a month, right? a joke lol), they introduce a new tax.
At least for now the positive side of living in the EU is that you don't have to pay taxes for cryptocurrency transactions, like woah, I heard China will have to pay something there.
