Being Nice Pays REALLY Good

in #life8 years ago (edited)

People think that making ridiculous amounts of money is bad, well, is it? It’d say it depends how you’re making that money, or from whom.

Hello I am Humberto Quintanilla, inveterate socio-economic entrepreneur. Bitcoin advocate and Nikola Tesla fan.

That’s my life summed up in 15 words, I encourage you to do the same in the comment section below, write your life in 15 words.

The Main Issue

I believe that anyone is entitled to make huge amounts of profits without having to comply to anyone or any regulation. (And yes, taxation is theft) But I strongly disagree when people try to take advantage of others and profit in that way.

Ponzi schemes are everywhere, and more people seem to be falling for that. Clear examples: Airbitz Club, One- Coin… the list goes on.

This kind of strategies, which date back to ancient times, have made us cautious and skeptical, with every new company, initiative or technology we make an unfair judgment at first.

The Bright Side: Social Entrepreneurs

Even though we live in a world where opportunists will not hesitate to scam you, there are people who use the power of money to bring upon good in the world.

Thru their efforts, startups or well established companies, people like Blake Mycoskie have set a standard on social entrepreneurship.

Tony Hsieh, the CEO of online shoe retailer TOMS, build a unique brand for his company, not because of his company’s operations or its profits for the shareholders, but because of its program to help others with every sale they made.

Basically, they decided to build their business upon the philosophy of giving. For every purchase of a pair of shoes, they would give one pair of shoes a person in need. Nothing groundbreaking here, one for one, as their moto claims. But, this principle, they took it as their mantra… their karma skyrocketed as high as their profits did. 10 years and still going tough. They found a business model that could make them rich by making others richer.

Being nice DOES really pays good.

What can we do?

Find a problem that’s worth solving. You’ll find this when, with your limited abilities, you’re able make a situation better for someone in need.

The identification is the easy part, the tricky part lies within the creation of a strong business model, without resorting to converting into a non-profit, which in my opinion is useless. A vicious cycle of asking money to generate wealth, it just simply don’t add up.

Find key partners that’ll help you cut down your costs at first, build a brand, and then create a movement where you can incentivize people to join you by acquiring your product or service.

The next steps I’ll leave them to you.
