Our Kitty Betty’s Health Update
Our newest rescue kitty Betty fell from our 5th floor balcony to the sidewalk below a few days ago. This post is a quick update to her situation.
The vet messaged me that Betty could be taken home today, but it’s not all good news because Betty still isn’t eating on her own. It is our hope that she will eat in her home environment.
Since the first vet trip after the accident, and until just before Betty’s leg surgery she was getting fed food by syringe (I did that every 20 minutes for just small amounts).
After the successful pin and plate leg surgery it was determined that would not be insufficient food.
She has been staying at our vet’s clinic. Our vet also said that Betty had to keep her newly operated on leg as still as possible for a few days She must begin to eat of her choice or there will be other medical issues that develop.
By keeping Betty at the clinic, she was able to keep her leg still, and also the vet was able to tube feed her (force feeding), force feeding isn’t nice but it was the only way for Betty to get enough nutrition as she didn’t want to eat. She also has been receiving various other medications intavenously (by IV Tube) as well.
Our little girl kitty Betty is lucky to be alive still, and I am so happy she can come back home, I just hope that she decides to eat or she will have to return to the vet and we must be prepared for other dangerous issues.
I am excited to bring her back home, so is our other older kitty.
I am asking everyone who sees this post to please think happy thoughts for our Betty, and send happy healing vibes her way. If you believe in a god or higher power, I ask you to please ask for our special little girl Betty to make a full recovery soon. We haven’t had her for very long, but is already a huge part of the family.

I'm happy your Betty is home, now she has to eat. I trust you have all different types of food for her at home.

Glad all worked out! Pretty kitty. Hope she continues to heal great. My puppy a few weeks back got into my meds, and ate some seizure pills toxic to dogs, 1/3 die from it, the heart will just explode, Luckily my vet was still open. We had to monitor her, make her vomit, when the vet is scared and all warning me she may need an emergency vet, I got beyond freaked out! They threw her on a monitor and her heartbeat was just around the very dangerous level, we were able to get it back down, and I had to monitor and check her pulse all night, but all is well now! (im sorry i kinda took over your post) Sending prayers, positive vibes and thoughts, Keep me updated, good night!

Our Betty is behaving a lot more like the Betty we know and love again. This is good news and the vet is happy about her healing progress. It will take time, but she is getting better day by day. She is hard to monitor and wants to be everywhere in the apartment to control our other cat...just like she used to.

Thank you for caring. Yes, our pets sure do make us happy, and we get very sad when they are sick or as with our Betty she broke her leg. She is on the way back to being healthy though now. The vet seems happy about her progress. fingers and toes all still crossed of course for a full recovery.
Awww well she is in great hands. I have 2 Chihuahuas and they give me comfort when I'm down. You're very welcome. Praying for a blessed recovery .
I'm thinking positive thoughts for Betty. Last night I had a stray cat who hasn't been friendly ask to be fed. I think shes pregnant or is nursing.. Tiny thing. Thats how I got my momma cat and 4 babes. good luck pqlenator....
Thank you for caring. Yes, they lure us in with those so cute eyes and they way are they just so cute, you have to take care of them and give them a great home. Our journey with cats began in Morocco, rescuing 2 street cats, brother and sister. The momma had recently had them and they could both fit on one hand. So it began...
My cat was crashed by car a few month ago and her pelvic bone was broken but she is ok now. she can walk jump and eat herself now.
Betty will be okay soon. I believe in!

Thank you for caring. Betty is on the mend, she ate a little last night, and more today. Our vet seems happy with the progress, that as a relief to hear. she has a way to go but I'm feeling a lot happier now.

Thank you for caring. Yes she is a cutie, yetanother rescue kitty we have had in our family, the newest addition. We had 2 from Morocco, they were brother and sister, we had them until they passed on. we also have an older cat from Turkey and now we have Betty too. Feel a lot happier now that she is eating at least a little.

Thank you for caring. yes, rescue animals if you must have pets, they all deserve to live a comfortable life too. Remember once you have them they are part of the family and should be respected as such. Food, shelter. love, medical care...

I have three cats myself. I love them for their uniqueness. Dogs often act alike, but each cat has a distinct personality.
Yes they are definitely very individual creatures. They lure us in and then completely control us in subtle and not so subtle ways.
