• short term memory functions in two important ways: it organize information by integrating new information with the existing information and it temporarily stores information from the learners use. For example the organizations students sort out things into categories or update the details of a short story as new information is presented. When it comes to information storage students repeat a list of items or summarize the story line. Also known as the working memory the short term memory system has a smaller capacity but it representations are more durable. Its capacity is so limited for registering the sensory input however its capacity to store information is nil if we do not do anything concrete for the information to stay there. Information that stays at the LTM is expected to be stored indefinitely. The information stored in the ltm is label as verbal or visual information for future use.

• The long term memory system is a warehouse of knowledge it is known as data bank that stores information. For this reason it is important to note how r memory system works for us. Once we perceive something with our sensory modalities we are able to form and organize information into meaningful patterns as we continuously make connection in our brain. The network of neurons help us integrate knowledge organize it and use it in meaningful context so that we can interpret the everyday occurrences.

THE SEVEN SINS IF MEMORY
The element of forgetting comes into the pictures because of the seven sins of memory.

Transience, this is refer to the gradual forgetting of information overtime. Old memories are less vivid then recent ones. For instance our current knowledge about our friends and acquaintances are more vivid and are easier to recall than those of the incident in our childhood days.

Absent-mindedness, the second sin deals with our failure to fully attend to the actual encoding process that causes us to forget. For instance, when we witness a car accident, we fail to focus on the car and its color.

Blocking , the third sin account for our memory that is present but inaccessible probably due to inadequate or misleading. For instance we fail to recall the students name which we know already.

Misattribution, the fourth sin maintain the idea that memory is present but it is attributed to the incorrect source. For Instance, we remember we heard that father Lambert will be our guest speaker for the seminar next week, but we forget who told us.

Suggestibility , the fifth sin of memory pertains to the correct information might be introduced by a leading questions during discussion or the imparting of false belief about an event in our life. When we remember that Dan is Dem because dem is introduced to us before as Dan is an example of digestibility.

Bias, is the sixth sin is about the formation of bias. When memory is distorted by our prior knowledge that becomes mingled with specific memory , there is bias already. By way of illustration, we are likely to interpret and remember their characteristics in a negative way.

Persistence the last sin account for the memory that is highly intrusive or obsessive. For example. Victims of trauma often relieve the memories in unwelcome flash backs of events or frightening incidents.

That would be all for today fellow steemian's. I do hope that it could give us another learnings and ideas that might be useful to each of us. Looking to your votes, comments and reesteemed. Godbless us all.
