Heaven on Earth
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth disappeared, and the sea vanished.” — Revelation 21:1
The reflexive response to asking most people if we can build a utopia, they’ll say, “NO!” Our species is used to the toil and moil of everyday existence. Most of us draw our identity from such struggles. Therefore, imagining a world with no struggle nor suffering would be the same as imagining a world where our current identities cease to exist.Building a Heaven on Earth would have to be a collaborative effort. This means that we get to dictated what it means to have a utopia. Some of the elements I’d like to suggest of a utopia is:
- Free Food and clean Water
- Free Shelter and Electricity
- Free Education
If humans weren’t busy chasing down the above basic needs we’d have more time to spend with family and working on projects and products that will advance our species. With automation growing at an exponential rate sooner or later someone will figure out how to build:
- Automated Farming and Distillation Systems
- Automated 3D printer for Infrastructure
- Personalized Educational Systems
Ideas such as these trigger fear in most hearts. As alluded to before, most of us draw our identities from the pursuit of the above basic needs. Nonetheless, I’d live to invite you to shed your fear and confidently embrace the fact that we can build new identities around enjoying life with our family and friends. So why not believe in a great and harmonized future. A Heaven on Earth is possible. We just have to believe we can create it.
