Mice can be exterminated - this is the only method of dealing with them, but with hares you will not do it - you need a different approach.

If the hare or the mice severely damaged the trunk of the tree, then, from such a tree it will be of little use. The wounds on the trees after they were gnawed by these rodents, very poorly heal. The tree can certainly be cured, but the process is very long and time consuming. It's easier to transplant it than to save it. That's why, you need to protect yourself. What do we have to do?

By the way, they can be used not only in gardens, but also in utility rooms, if any. It is necessary to lay out 1-2 briquettes in the immediate vicinity of burrows. After 2-3 days, we check if the briquettes are eaten, MANDATE, add one more serving. After the addition, you can safely sleep until the next fall. With the mice figured out, go to the hares.

To protect tree trunks in the first 4-5 years after planting (after coarsening the bark, it no longer likes hares and does not touch it), they must be treated with a special protective paint.

This is a special paint of brown color (there is the same, but white - it does not fit), the trunk needs to be stained twice a year - in spring and in autumn. Paint does not harm neither hares, nor trees, nor the environment.
