The Most Beautiful Cinema In The World - Sydney Open Air

in #life7 years ago

With a backdrop of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge - you really can't go wrong. Even if the movie is average, you can spend the time gazing out at the rippling water, or staring at the beauty of the two most famous landmarks in Sydney and arguably Australia!

St. George Open Air Cinema runs for about 2 months every year in the Sydney Summer and on nights like these, it really makes me appreciate what a beautiful city I live in.

It was a little cloudy today but usually on a clear night it's breathtaking watching the sun set over the harbour and to be watching a beautiful movie. I actually quite enjoyed the clouds today, it created sort of a moody sky which matched the serious tone of the movie quite well, funny how these things work out!

I hope everyone had as great a Thursday as I did - peaceful, serene, a beautiful warm Summer's night. Can't get any better - life is good!

Drive-in theaters are awesome here in NW Indiana, but most if not all are out in the middle of nowhere and definitely don't have that beautiful of a scenery behind it.

This isn’t quite a drive-in cinema as it’s in the middle of our city (at the Royal Botanic Gardens) but I agree with you. The drive-in cinemas we do have are in the middle of nowhere which I think makes this the most beautiful cinema in the world!! I’m born and raised here and the view still amazes me :)

That is so cool! Just bring along a picnic and some wine and you are all set!

Haha great idea yes! A few people do that but actually most people purchase food from the restaurant stalls and bar set up here - they’ve really commercialised it and have sponsor restaurants and eating areas. Everyone gets here about 2 hours before and eats and then we get seated to watch the movie.
The event people know what they’re doing for sure!

Does it get noisy at all? The Moonlight cinema in Melbourne is lovely, but far less picturesque than this AND the bats make crazy screeching noises at dusk. You pretty much can only watch a movie you've already seen or a comedy that doesn't require any concentration.

Whoever set up the Sydney one was a genius!

Hmm not really. We do have bats flying overhead as well but the sound system here is really good so I didn’t really notice it. I actually kind of enjoy when they do screech though! It adds to the “I’m in nature” feel.

But yes this is a very unique setup!

Wow, that's beautiful! I agree this is a beautiful Cinema.

Thank you! Yes it truly is, such a beautiful backdrop it’s hard to stay focused on the movie sometimes!!

So pretty!!! Love the photo.

Thank you! It was a beautiful view indeed.
