Retain relationships
I have discovered that one of the most valued asset to great people is relationships.
People that go far in life don't take the issue of relationship with levity hands
life is built on relationships.
Nature so designed it that no single organism can exist alone. There is always a level of interdependency and interrelationships for survival.
It is easier to maintain relationship with people of higher cadres and pedigrees but relationships with people of low estate are often trivialized.
Some people find it difficult to relate with their childhood friends and school mates because of their present position and status, not until when they are in need of their assistance.
No relationship should be trivialized because someone you think is nobody today might be the determinant of your success tomorrow.
One of the security attached to a particular commissioner in the state I reside called me and asked questions about my close relationship with the commissioner. I simply told him, 'we have been for long. I knew him when he was an ordinary lecturer in the university. If he happens to become the president today, I might still have access to his bedroom.' That is power of relationship!
It is hard to cling to people when they are already in the limelight but it is easier to cultivate relationship with ordinary people that could become extraordinary
Don't look down on anybody. The minnow you see today might become a big whale tomorrow but if you don't retain relationship with him/her now, how will you benefit from the whaleshare?
It is all about relationship! Cultivate it, maintain it and retain it.
