Wish Magic

We can do all the wishing we want
on dandelions. Purse our lips,
breathe out, watch the seeds fly.
But wishes only take root if
we believe in our innate magic
we are the creator of good
in our lives

I don't mean go set up an altar
but do sit in worship of yourself
at least once a day saying
thank you for carrying on
this far, thank you for waking
this morning

And maybe do set up an altar,
burn candles in celebration because
you are worth every bite of cake,
every dandelion your neighbor
has tried to poison but failed because
you wished on them.

What? You didn't know you light
the moon with your eyes and the stars
only twinkle if you are looking,
you are sandy beaches and fresh
water and every spark that flies
when our lips meet?

Dandelions on the bedspread
let's move this conversation
to a lower elevation where we can
exchange our wish magic
in secret, twisted together
hearts wild.
