FORESTRY IN NIGERIA

in #life6 years ago

Forestry is the study of forest and trees. Forests play a very vital role in our lives but we humans especially Nigerians do not value the importance of forests.
In Nigeria, our forests are going into extinction but we do not seem to care. Day by day, trees are being felled and new ones are not planted in replacement.

Our wildlife animals or habitat as the case may be are dying as their homes are being destroyed. In the next five decades from now, lions may have gone extinct as all their home are being attacked and mutinied.

Forestry as a field of study is not considered an important area of specialization and individuals who have interest in this field of study are usually discouraged from studying it. Such individuals are commonly advised to take up career in law, medicine, engineering, or any such respectable and high paying careers.
In most developed cities in Nigeria, the air breathed in is not pure due to pollution from industrial and domestic waste released to the atmosphere. The trees which were naturally meant to purify the air we breathe have become source of income a greedy set of over ambitious men who would rather get the immediate profits and be less concerned with what the aftermath effects could be.
Most of our historic trees are nowhere to be found as they have been turned into furniture in exotic hotels pubs or rooms, make it a worse situation. In order to conserve our remaining trees, a tree must be planted to replace felled trees. it is getting worrisome and difficult to live a healthy life by not including trees in our existence. In order to live longer, planting a tree is like saving a minute of our lives.
To do something as painless as planting a tree, can go a really long way in making our planet more habitable.

Plant a tree to save a life. You can save a life, just plant a tree and avoid deforestation.
