Upgrade time #2

in #life6 years ago

Hello, I decided to introduce you to the second concept of expanding my computer. In the first one, I really do not like the power section on the motherboard, so in my mind, there was another idea for modernization.

If I did not like the motherboard from the first upgrade, we'll start with it. I have considered two options here with good power sections, which will allow you to easily replace the processor with a twelve core (if it will be created one day, and my enthusiasm for virtual machines will not decrease). These are the Asus CROSSHAIR VI HERO ( x370 chipset)

and ASRock X470 Taichi.

I will choose the one I will find at a lower price than the market one, which in my opinion is exaggerated.

As you rightly noticed, these are ATX boards which means switching from my tiny NCASE M1 housing to something a few times bigger. I was thinking over be quiet! DARK BASE PRO 900. Looks good and has great expansion options. Someday maybe I will be tempted to custom liquid cooling. This case also has 3 factory-installed Silent Wings 3 140 mm PWM, which together with my three fans allows for almost perfect air circulation.

The changes also affected the processor which I will exchange for the eight-core brother Ryzen 7 2700.

The MSI GT 1030 Passive LP will be a graphics card for everyday work and films on two monitors

and GTX 1070 Strix for the game and simulation for KVM.

Regarding the choice of RAM, power supply and CPU cooling, nothing has changed in relation to the previous modernized configuration:

HyperX Savage DDR4 16GB, later, I will buy another 16gb.

Corsair RM750x, I plan to design my own cables.

and Drark Rock 3

However, the change will affect disks. I will buy Corsair MP500 240gb for Linux and Samsung 850 Evo with 1tb capacity for data. My old Samsung 850 Evo 500gb will serve as the installation site for virtual machines.

That's probably all. Thanks for the time devoted to reading this post. I have one more question for you: would you like me to start a series about the best builds I built, help build, see and what I found on the internet and describe what components are made, when they were made and what is their efficiency?
