As a fellow spoonie who has seen what you are dealing with daily - I can only say I get it and I really wish things were different here. There are so many things I enjoy about living out this way but the mental / ethical disconnect that many people have for each other and animals around here is saddening...
How you continue to do all you do is simply mindboggling sometimes!
No doubt about it--this area is particularly difficult to make any headway with charitable causes.
