Believe it or not, more people fail than they succeed when it comes to their goals. Have you ever heard of the saying, “I will fail my way to success.” This all taps into the power of your mindset and how your mindset is key to successfully reaching your goals.

Now, I would like to share with you the top reasons why people fail their goals and what you can do to overcome these obstacles.

1. Fear of Success and/or Failure.

Many people fear different things in their life. Regarding goals, a lot of people are afraid to fail their goals, and to my surprise there are just as many individuals who are afraid to succeed at their goals.

This is because most people fear what they don’t know. People tend to want to know the outcome of every situation that they are in.
But what is fear?
Fear is an emotion. Always remember that we control our emotions. Therefore, we can control when we feel fear. Fear is not a terrible thing though, Fear can be used to your advantage.
For example, fear lets you know that you need to change something to get the outcome you want. The bottom line is this. Do not let fear determine your actions, let it lead you to success.

Do not worry about where you are going, just focus on what you want and do something that will help you take small steps to eventually get there. Always get excited when you feel fear, let that drive you to do something great.

2. Lack of Understanding of The Goal Setting Process.

The next reason why people fail at their goals is the lack of understand that they have when it comes to setting goals. A lot of people know what they want, but they don’t understand the right process to setting specific goals to get there. This shouldn’t be a problem for anyone who has purchased this book. If you use the S.M.A.R.T technique that I mentioned before, then you should fully understand the process by now. If not, you can always go back and review them again.

3. Lack of Commitment To The Goal.

Reason number 3 is the lack of commitment a person has to a goal. You see many people know what they want, but they focus too much on the process of reaching it rather than the results you get from it.

When this happens, I recommend that you reevaluate that goal and make smaller goals that are more attainable, yet at the same time building towards your main goal. That will make the process easier for you and more enjoyable. If in the end you still aren’t finding yourself committed to the goal, then it is time to change the goal completely.

Always remember that a part of the process of goal setting is that your goals will always change as you progress. Things that you thought you wanted before, will not look as appealing to you the closer you get to it. Also remember it is not never wrong to delete a goal that you once had.

There is no shame in changing your goal, all that means is that you are progressing towards something greater.
