Our Life Story | Chapter 10 – Look what we bought for you!... and a little bit for ourselves :)
Ok. Let me be honest, the title is a bit misleading and we bought this more for ourselves than for you guys. But hey… you guys can enjoy it too!
I’m talking about our latest addition to our travel gear, we bought ourselves a new camera! Normally we tend to be quite impulsive when it comes to buying new stuff but saving up money that we need to reach our goals for the next couple of years has made us realize:
Don’t buy stupid things and don’t be too impulsive while spending money!
My latest “stupid” buy taught me a valuable lesson. It has been somewhat more than a year ago when I bought a drone. The DJI Phantom with all the good things, Gopro gimbal, carbon props, 7” monitor, a huge transport case, an extra set of batteries and so on.
I really need this! I said to myself, but have never been so wrong.This thing cost me a fortune. After flying it a couple of times I lost interest and sold it for about half the price that I bought it for, as the prices for secondhand drones dropped really fast.
Now, that’s a great way to get rid of your money!
So when we had the brilliant idea to use the money for a new DSLR Camera instead, we hesitated. After waiting to buy this new camera for almost a year, yesterday was the day!
We bought ourselves a brand new Canon EOS 80D with a 18-135 mm USM lens and this is why:
We want to give you quality
This has to be the most important item on the list, it’s all because of you guys ;) We strive to create quality content for you and that’s not just about the text, we will do our best to give you some beautiful images too.
Just a couple more months,… practicing
As you already know we’re about to start our “next big adventure” in a couple a months. Not being photographers at all, we need all the time we can get to learn this new camera.
Big price reduction
One of the biggest electronics retailers from the Netherlands had a big sale. Saving us around 21% taxes on the new price and leaving us with more money to save up for our trip.
Creating digital memories is important
Creating photo’s gives us the ability to look back in time, and really “feel” that certain moment, often more than just the memory of a moment alone. Photographs become part of your legacy and tell your life story in a way that almost everyone can relate to and makes these story’s easier to tell and share.
Having a camera in your hand makes everyone an artist in his or her own way, you shoot the images that are valuable to you and the things you would like other people to see and feel.
Having said all that, it’s time for us to start using this camera and all of his awesome functions.
