KNOWLEDGE COMES BUT WISDOM LINGERS.

The entire world is a school, a constant placing of learning and understanding. Those who are better among us are those who seek knowledge, those who consistently learn and those who pursue understanding. But the best are the wise ones. For what is the use of knowledge if you can not make informed decisions and positive judgments with it ? John Calvin Coolidge Jr, an American politician and the 30th President of the United States once said:  

Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity.

Wisdom may depend on knowledge but knowledge doesn't always guarantee wisdom. Knowledge is simply the fact of knowing about something; general understanding or familiarity with a subject, place, situation etc. On the other hand, wisdom is the discretionary use of knowledge for the greatest good. In other words, the ability to apply relevant knowledge in an insightful way, especially to distinguish situations from that in which the knowledge was gained. That is why most of the time, older people are considered to be wiser, because by living longer, they are more likely to have learnt more, gathered more experiences and will probably make wiser decisions. But of course, it is not a universal rule, wisdom isn't always age dependent.
