Police Search For Missing 11-Year-Old For Hours, Then News Helicopter Spots Him Napping On Roof

When Angel Gort, an 11-year-old boy from Florida, was reported missing, the police and media took immediate action.

Police spent two hours searching Angel’s neighborhood, even using bloodhounds, according to FOX 13. Scarily, they couldn’t find the 11-year-old anywhere. Everyone feared the worst.

A local news station, WSVN-TV, was covering the ongoing search. They sent out a news helicopter, reporting live from the scene to get footage of the police activity. As the chopper hovered over Angel’s home, however, the newscaster spotted more than he’d expected.

Angel was sleeping on the roof of his house.

Ralph Rayburn was reporting live as he spotted the boy. He asked a coworker to call the police, who were down on the street below and quickly able to help Angel get to safety.

So why was Angel taking a nap in arguably the weirdest place ever? He says he just didn’t want to go to summer camp.

Thankfully, all that matters is that Angel is now safe and sound. He also apologized for the scare, saying, “I didn’t mean to cause any trouble. I didn’t mean to waste any of the police officers’ time.” Angel sounds like a smart, well-rounded kid to me, and I’m very glad he’s safe.
