When we are presented with an excessive number of options, we have a tendency to lose efficiency. It is possible that the Ivy Lee Method is the most effective method for doing tasks without posing an excessive number of inquiries.

Have you ever begun your workday by organising your day, the tasks that you planned to perform, and the missions that you were able to accomplish?

In situations where there are more things to accomplish, it is certain that we will experience a decline in both our efficiency and our production at that very moment. This (unfortunate) trend can be the result of having an excessive number of options to choose from.

According to Well and Good, this phenomenon, which we might refer to as the "paradox of choice," has the effect of rendering us unable of making decisions, not only in one's professional life but also in other aspects of our lives.

Therefore, in order to combat this issue, you need implement the Ivy Lee Method in order to organise oneself and get to work in an effective manner.

The Ivy Lee Method is a technique for strictly organising one's work. It was developed by Ivy Lee, a productivity consultant who was recruited by businessman Charles M. Schwab in 1918 to assist in improving the efficiency of his company.

It is comprised of adhering to four norms, none of which may make sense to some individuals, but which have the potential to disturb the organisation of other workers:

Make a list of up to six chores that need to be completed the following day, and arrange them in the order of their importance.

Start your day by completing the tasks on your list in the order that they are listed. You should give it your undivided attention and avoid overlapping any of your other responsibilities.

You should not proceed to the next task until you have finished the one you are now working on.

At the end of the day, if there are any chores that are still outstanding on your list, you should move them to the top of the list for the following day. Proceed with this procedure on a daily basis.

The founder of a productivity tool, John Rampton, informs Entrepreneur that "by planning your day the day before, you reduce decision-making fatigue and reserve your energy for your most important work." Rampton's statement was made in reference to the content of Entrepreneur.

Instead of wasting critical time and energy in the morning trying to make decisions, you wake up knowing exactly what you are going to do for the rest of the day. For example, according to James Clear, who is the author of a book on habits, this method makes it possible to impose a rigorous framework and remove indecision by providing a direction to follow.

According to Business Insider, he writes on his blog, "I think there's something magical about setting limits for yourself." This statement was referenced by the publication. As a matter of fact, if you do not make any commitments, you will fall prey to everything that comes your way.
