This is so interesting and thanks so much for this information. In Germany, it's nearly the same. Some people like it so much picking up apples, plums, and pears from local farmers. The problem for most of the old apple varieties is that they are not suitable for storage. but anyway it's always fun tasting the fruits and treat them for jam, juice or/and cakes.
