Food as Art
I thought I would do a retrospective
of some memorable artistic experiences
I've had over the last couple of years.
I think you will agree
that food can be experienced
as high art
to be savored by the eyes, nose, tongue,
yes, with your mind and soul too.
Just as not all music
is head-banging cacaophony
to get drunk by,
so not all food
is meant to be wolfed down
thoughtlessly, unconsciously,
to swell an undisciplined belly.
Enjoy!
👍
ouzo and out,

I spent few time on each picture and try to imagine the taste as well as the aroma. Yes, not all food are meant to be gulped down by undisciplined belly but I would savour every bit of this and salute the creativity of whoever made these delicacies. Food is artistic. Very few people know this.
Well done sir!
Food can definitely be artistic - as can many other things in our lives that we normally take for granted. I guess it is a matter of what we do consciously and with attention as opposed to what we do mechanically, thoughtlessly, without attention.
Absolutely, sir.
@onceuponatime,
Specially tongue, yeah I think you made it crazy by those artistic foods! Great photography and you know how to make the appetite by using them!
Cheers~
The mind can taste more fully than the tongue :-)
the delicious art one can always enjoy ;)
I have heard that chefs only come into great public prominence and fame when an empire is in decline. Do you think that is true?
This pic make me feel happy 😄

I had a beloved aunt who would cook the most delectable dishes, as we used to say, 'from scratch'. This was traditional Sicilian food, recipes handed down for generations. That was art, and she regarded it jealously as such. Whenever she was asked for a recipe, she gladly shared it...but always left out one ingredient (she once confessed). The only people who got the whole deal, who were handed the true art, were her daughters. The highest compliment I ever received, as a cook, was when she appreciated my cream cheese cookies. She asked for the recipe. And I gave it to her...the whole recipe. She was wonderful.
"She was wonderful."
Yes, she was!
I'm all about savoring, what's the point of wolfing things down and barely tasting them?
Are there pickles in Paradise? (There don't appear to be any on your tray)
Mmmm, the pickles, even the pickled onions were fab! Shared between four of us, the perfect amount!
Everything looks so delicious!
I want to try everything! :-))
I guess "wanting" is the first step :-)
:-)))
Taking time to savor the aroma and seasonings on the palate is important in dining. So too taking time to enjoy each photo and word on such a delicious post is proper. My compliments to the chef and creator of such a mouth watering post.
Kind of you to say so :-)
Everything is amazing, but it would be more amazing if there was ouzo!!!! :)
There is always ouzo in spirit.
I couldn't agree more with you.. Besides taste, presentation is equally important.. We should kind of celebrate every lunch, every dinner we have. I am obsessed with beautiful dinnerware and art de la table in general.. It fills my heart with joy! We should all pay more attention to what we eat and how we eat.. :)
"We should all pay more attention to what we eat and how we eat.. :)"
And how we walk, and how we talk. And what we breathe. And how we drive. Attention/awareness is a beautifying thing :-)
It surely is!! :)) Awareness leads to better interpretation of life...
