The Truth About Trying To Please Everybody.

Let me tell you a story, of how you can never please human beings, no matter what you do, or how hard you tried.

This is a song, sang by a Nigerian musician. I will write it out for you, so you can learn.

On one cool airy morning, the sun was cloaked in its glory; it spread its wings and moved round the whole world, piercing the gloomy dusk with light. A man and his son decided to travel, they packed their bags and few possessions, saddled their horse and bade their abode goodbye. The man and his son mounted the horse, they placed their bags in front, and off they went - giggling and enjoying the warmth of the sun.

Halfway through the journey, they came across a group of people, they looked upon them with scorn and complained about how the man and his son wanted to kill the horse by overloading it, "how can you, your son and this heavy luggage be on this horse, why are you so heartless, can't you pity the poor horse?" they said. They complained so much and the man told his son to get down to reduce the weight and please the complainers.

But they had only moved a little when they met another set of people; they looked at the man with scorn and complained that the man was wicked - he rode on the horse while his dear son walked on foot, he was a useless father. To appease the people, the man got down and told his son to ride on the horse, while he walked on foot beside them.

They moved a little farther and met another set of people, they looked upon him with scorn and complained about how the man was foolish to let his son ride on a horse while he walked on foot. Isn't his son more agile and stronger than him? Did he want to kill himself. Angrily, he man told his son to get down, and they both walked on foot while the horse walked beside them.

They moved ahead and met yet another set of people; these ones laughed, clapped and jeered at the man and his son. They said the man was stupid and was a fool, what is the essence of a horse when they wanted to walk on foot? How could a horse just walk free while its owner walked on foot? oh! he was the most foolish man on earth.

This story is to show you that you cannot please everybody, for every action the man took, people still had something to complain about. It is better to live your life the best way you can, irrespective of what people think or feel about you. The more you pay attention to people's comments and remarks, the more power you give them to lord over you. Never try to please everybody, take charge of your life by shutting off negative comments.

When you fall seven times, get up eight, shut dirt off your body, turn a new page and start over. Look at how far you have come and where you are headed. Be unapologetic about your dreams, your goals, your courage, your zeal. Be unapologetic about who you are.

So forge ahead. Grow. Live. Love. Laugh!!
