Now You Know What I Did Last Saturday
I had a rather unusual Saturday last week.
Instead of doing ordinary weekend things: like visiting my favourite café for brunch, meeting up with friends, or simply chilling at home, reading book, playing videogames and watching films, I went to a country fair, Ockelbo Marknad.
Photo from our regional newspaper, Arbetarbladet. I myself was too busy on that day to be taking own pictures.
The reason for it was the fact that I volunteer with the local First Aid group that was set up by the Red Cross. A year ago I did the training with a dozen other awesome volunteers who have since then become my friends and comrades. We usually assist at mass events of all sorts: sport competitions, celebrations, music festivals, graduation fests and so on.
This market fair is quite famous in our region of Gästrikland, Sweden. It is hosted twice a year in Ockelbo, the home village of Prince Daniel, husband of the Crown Princess Viktoria of Sweden.

The market stretched along the Main Street, 2 kilometres long (or about a mile and a half). Me and my partner Peter walked back and forth along that street, checking on people, talking with the visitors and the merchants, making sure everybody was doing well and enjoying themselves. It took us about 30 minutes to walk the entire length of the market in one direction. So in four hours that Peter and I were on duty, we made that walk eight times, end to end. Needless to say I could feel it in my legs and feet that evening and the following day! :)
The weather was amazing: the sun was shining bright in a cerulean cloudless sky, while the temperature stayed around very comfortable 20°C/68°F. Meaning that nobody fell a victim to a heat stroke or dehydration. Fortunately, no serious accidents were recorded during our time at the fair. In all four hours we only had to hand out three band aids. That was all. That’s how I like it!
The selection of stalls and wares was wide and amazing: from smoked meets to spices, from fidget spinner to massage chairs, from candies to pastries, and from book authors to political parties. Luckily, I forgot my wallet at home, so I didn’t splash on curiosity and treats – although I must admit that I would have been tempted otherwise.
To be honest I use to volunteer to a local community group but things went bad with it and it just left me uninterested in that kinda thing for right now and also I am thinking of resurrecting my Out Reach Programme that I did back in 2012.

Love forever, @minnowsupport! <3
I think about this. I want to take patronage over the nearest animal shelter (for dogs=))
What a wonderful idea! I hope you will do!
