The Rubik’s Cube was invented by a Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture by the name of Ernő Rubik, hence where the Cube got its name. It took him a full week to solve his original design. The fastest solving time today of the Rubik’s Cube was set by a man named Lucas Etter who solved the classic 3x3x3 Cube in 4.90 seconds! The fastest time recorded whilst being blindfolded was 21.05 seconds by Kaijun Lin of China.

California joined the United States with the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ended the Mexican-American War, in 1848. The U.S. paid Mexico $15 million for war damages. In turn, Mexico ceded nearly half of its territory, including California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and parts of Colorado, Nevada, and Utah. California officially became a state in 1850.
