Smart And Simple Ways To Change Your Life For Good. Part Five.
Take Charge Of Your Life.
"A sign of wisdom and maturity is when you come to terms with the realization that your decisions cause your rewards and consequences. You are responsible for your life, and your ultimate success depends on the choices you make.”
Denis Waitley
Taking full responsibility for your life affairs is not an easy task and that's the reason some people avoid it. Unfortunately what these people don't know is that not taking responsibility for your life means giving away your willpower, dreams and other life's goals.
If you desire a happy and successful life, you must learn to take responsibility for your life affairs. Taking charge of your life involves so many things. Among them are;
- You must stop blaming others for the problems you encounter.
- You have to cease attributing your failures to some issues other than yourself.
- You must accept the fact that life is a series of choices in which you are the decision maker.
But why do so many people prefer to avoid taking responsibility for their own lives?
It is always easier to blame our problems on outside factors than accepting and solving the problems. Blaming it on others gives a form of mental release, by making people feel that there is nothing they could do to make things better. So they play the victim and not find ways to solve the problem. Also not taking responsibility for your life involves less thinking, and even a false comfort. This is the case with those who are always depending on other people to make decisions for them and take care of their needs. Paying the price for self-freedom is not an easy task, but it's worth the hassle. Let's look at some reasons why it is so important to be in charge of your life.
Why is taking charge of your life so important?
Peak performance begins with your taking complete responsibility for your life and everything that happens to you.”
Brian Tracy
It empowers you to live the life you want to live.
When you start taking responsibility for your life's affairs, you will stop living out another person's scripts. You'll begin to take better decisions as regards to your life's goals and purpose. Since you are no longer blaming your problems on someone else, you will begin to think more and act more. You'll take actions not just when you want to, or just for fun. You'll become more serious with your time, money relationships and decision making. All These things would, in turn, boost your determination, enthusiasm, commitment and all that it takes to achieve the desired goal.
It helps improve your self-esteem
Nothing builds our self-esteem stronger like the feeling of being in charge of our own lives. When you are no longer relying on others to solve your problems for you, you will begin to respect yourself more, and also attract the respect of other people. Your self-esteem builds over time, as you begin to take control of your life. This takes us to the next topic.
How can I take charge of my life?
Make up your mind first.
You have to first decide to be in charge of your own affairs. Take the decision to be the one behind the wheels.
Change your thought pattern
Do not blame your problems on other things or people. Replace that blame habit with the thoughts of ways to solve that problem. Instead of thinking about how someone else was not willing to help, or how the environment was the cause of the problem, start thinking about what you can do to solve that problem.
Stop over depending on other people.
Work hard to pay your bills and stop waiting for another person to take care of you.
Also, start making your own right decisions. Don't always wait for others to do that for you.
Stop procrastinating.
You can read a full article on that here.
Boldly go for what you want.
If you want a friend, don't wait for a friend to come. Seek out one. If you want a job, don't wish for it, write an application, go for interviews. Whatever you want, go for with confidence. It doesn't mean you'll always have it, but there are more chances that you'll get it if you make an attempt than when you never gave it a trial.
Conclusion
Taking charge of our lives guarantees our freedom. Almost everybody desire to experience self-freedom, but only a few are willing to pay the price for it. Determine to take charge of your life today and experience the joy and success it brings your way. It is important to note that taking charge of your life does not mean living like an outcast, not having a mentor or being unwilling to learn and take corrections. The right application of wisdom is very important in all we do.

@elyaque made this beautiful badge for me.
Lovely piece . Your post has done more than motivate me. Life is what you make it and if you decide to not pay attention to the basics as you advance in age, it becomes hard to handle things.
A friend (@tj4real)once told me the only person we are destined to become is the person we decide to be.
You have just said it into details in your post and i love it
Thanks so much for this lovely comment @kwakumax.
We're in complete agreement on this. Btw, you're link for the "here" under the stop procrastinating header is missing, if you were making it clickable.
Thanks so much @aaronsthilaire. I have fixed it.

@ogoowinner, I do enjoy your posts, well done, days are gone when you hear people saying that they need someone to take care of their lives, life is best taken care of by the the person living it. Love loads from @maxdevalue.

I agree. People who believe that they are not in control of their lives will constantly have the victim mentality. I like what you have to say. I try my best to hold myself accountable to everything I do. I just try to improve myself everyday :)
