We all have Internal codes that we regulate and live our lives by, and most of this codes were programmed into us through Nature and Nuture. However many people never really take the time to clearly line out their beliefs and principles

Failure to clearly define your values will make It difficult for you to make to make choices around basic things In life like time, money and personal decisions

We all know that the way we make choices in these areas are greatly Influenced by what we believe in. We can say that someone has Integrity when he/she does what they say they believe in

If you claim to work with transperancy and honesty, you won't be the one to take bribes or lie

Guaging a person Integrity by what they hold dear may not be an entirely sound evaluation as it might let them do almost anything that they want even if it seen as morally wrong by others, but the general ideas still tilts towards integrity being you living life the way you have set your values as

It is thereby Important for you to spend time to truly define what really matters to you, this will enable you carve out you most Important values, Choosing the most Important ones will help you figure out what you really are, the truth is that when It comes to value, you cannot have It all.

How Can You Achieve This

The first step in this is for you to sit down and decide what really matters to you and you also need to have an Idea of what your list of values should be. You just need to make a list of things you value and then decide the ones you value the most

Coming up with my values was relatively easy for me, though yours might not be as easy as that. One of the driving forces of my life is finding and creating meaningful work, and that drive can be expressly linked to the three things In life I value the most

We are here to change the world, not to just work, make money and die

This is one of the quotes that I hold dear to my heart. i believe that Life is too long for me to live in obscurity, I believe that the true mesure of Life is not how much you leave in your bank accpunt, the measure of how you lived your life will be evident by the number of people that showed up for your funeral

However a funny thing happens in lIfe, If you live life caring about your funeral, you end up making things that will reflect in your bank account

Nelson Mandela was an example of a person who chose to live life with a view of making Impact, no amount of threats and bribes could make him forget the suffering of his people. He suffered and went to prison but when his work brought fruit , he ended up amassing true wealth, memrobilia from his home were being sold for thousands of dollars

Even things like Slippers he wore were being boughts by tourists for huge sums of Money, possessions of his that would be considered as of minimal value in the real world were being used to decorate walls of embassies and offices
of top businessmen

Documenting Values

When documenting your values, make sure that thye are not merely aspirational, you should not Include values you wish you will be able to have, you should only Include values that you can honestly claim to have

Having one or two values on who you want to be may be Motivational and may require you to work towards them, but you major values should be the same. They are what you will refer to as you core Values. They will help you a lot when it comes to making decisons.

This will make you eliminate fluff and focus on what matters when it comes to vital decisons like how you spend your time and Money
