Whisky Cask as a present

I have been thinking about buying a cask of whisky from one of the many distilleries in Scotland and let it mature for the the next 18 ish years before bottling and giving to my disabled son for his 21st birthday present. If I bought a 250lt cask now I think I would get between 250-280 full bottles of whisky.

Now my question is, is this a very selfish gift or like me would u think it would be cool to have your own brand of whisky and some thing that has been kept for so many years??
