An excited sport call speed climbing is coming for Olympic game 2020 in Japan. The youth are attracted to this sport that has his specific rules.
Two people stand next to each other at the bottom of a tall wall.
Not real rocks, but colourful plastic shaped to look like rocks on the wall are placed at different spaces and positions to create a path, up the wall. So each person has the same choices about where to put their feet and hands.
The climber race up the wall as fast as they can when the officer gives the starting signal.
They move so quickly they look as if they are running up the wall. When climbers reach the top, they hit a button with their hand. This marks their time.
There is a rope that catches them and brings them slowly back to the ground. These races are only six or seven seconds long.
Every speed climbing route is the same all over the world, so everyone climbs the same path. Each path is either ten meters or 15 meters high.
