It's good to talk! Communication is king...

It's been another fantastic weekend of coaching the children at my football academy Kekoa Coaching. The weather has been great (for a change) and everyone from the coaches, children and parents have really enjoyed the sessions.

This weekend however was slightly different than our usual weekly sessions. The focus this weekend was communication and how we communicate with our teammates. I'm a firm believer in coaching all aspects of the game and communication is a vital yet underused part that is often not taught enough.

The importantance of communication is not only very useful in playing football but also in life, as having the confidence to express how you feel, or to give helpful information is and can be key to success or failure.

"Man on" "Turn"and "Pass" are the main pieces of information that we wanted to children to focus on this weekend. The children had to recognise when was the correct time to use each phrase and when wasn't.

The children had so much fun doing this exercise, especially as we were playing matches for all of the session and they soon began to realise just how much influence they had on the game just by communicating.

Overall it was a great learning curve for the children, now they are more talkative than every and I can't wait until Wednesday when we get coaching again.
