Traditions.

Before everything, I want to talk about the traditions or customs here. In Venezuela, it is customary several things; among the common traditions, fireworks are highlighted, which begin to sound everywhere, usually at night, being used by children and young people. / Antes de todo, quiero hablar acerca de las tradiciones y costumbres de aquí. En Venezuela, se acostumbra a hacer muchas cosas; entre las tradiciones comunes, se resaltan los fuegos artificiales, los cuales suenan por todas partes, generalmente en la noche, usado por niños y jóvenes.

I forgot to mention, the first thing that comes out in the photo, the sparklers, here they are called "Estrelitas" which comes from a star, and are used by the youngest children. / Se me olvidaba mencionar, lo primero que sale en la foto, las luces de bengala, aquí se le llaman "Estrelitas" que viene de estrella, y son usadas por los niños mas pequeños.

In my state, it was common a meeting near these dates where traditional music was heard, the Christmas lights were lit to the surroundings, rockets illuminated the sky. / En mi estado, es común hacer una reunión donde se escucha música tradicional, se encendían las luces navideñas alrededor, cohetes iluminaban el cielo.

Between Christmas food, is common the hallaca; It is a type of tamale that is filled with meat, pork or chicken, combined with vegetables, olives, raisins and other things; It also highlights the champagne that was taken the new year, the grapes that were eaten as a sign of good luck, and typical music. / Entre las comidas navideñas, es común la hallaca; es un tipo de tamal relleno con carne, puerco o pollo, combinado con vegetales, aceitunas y pasas; también se resalta la champaña que se toma en año nuevo, las uvas que se comían como señal de buena suerte, y música típica.

The family reunion is very important, and spending time with the family is the main feature of New Year's Eve./ La reunión familiar es muy imporante, y pasar tiempo con la familia es la característica principal de la víspera de año nuevo.

I would like to highlight the music that is heard, which is Venezuelan national music; it is known as gaita and it is a type of music that can have several instruments, but the cuatro is highlighted, it is a four-string instrument, and the maracas, the furro, the charrasca and the tambora are also highlighted; I'll leave some of the New Year songs to be listened to if you like. / Me gustaría resaltar la música que se escucha, la cual es música nacional de Venezuela; se conoce como gaita y es un tipo de música que puede tener varios istrumentos, pero se resalta el cuatro, es un instrumento de cuatro cuerdas, tamién se resaltan las maracas, el furro, la charrasca y la tambora; dejaré algunas de las canciones de año nuevo para que las escuchen si gustan.

Now, the point that I want to talk, the changes. / Ahora, el punto del que quiero hablar, los cambios.

Changes due to the economic situation. / Cambios debido a la situación económica.

I guess for anyone is a secret that Venezuela is in an economic situation not easy, in some places to exaggerate or take out of context, in others I guess they will not talk, but specifically I want to talk about how this situation affected the Christmas of the year past. / Supongo que para nadie es un secreto que Venezuela está en una situación económica nada fácil, en algunos lugares a exageran o sacan cosas de contexto, en otros supongo que ni hablarán, pero en específico quiero hablar en como esta situación afecto a las navidades del año pasado.

The first thing I want to emphasize, has been the "off" everything was; the fireworks, unlike when he was a child, were only heard at Christmas and on New Year's Eve, it should be noted that the parents who bought those few fireworks made a great sacrifice, and not too many were heard as expected. / Lo primero que quiero destacar, ha sido lo "apagado" que estuvo todo; los fuegos artificiales, a diferencia de cuando era niño, solo se escucharon en navidad y en la víspera de año nuevo, que cabe destacar que los padres que compraron esos pocos fuegos artificiales hicieron un gran sacrificio, y tampoco se escucharon demasiados como se esperaba.

Families that lived in other states could not be seen, because the money was not enough to transport from one state to another, not counting those who emigrated due to the situation itself. / Las familias que vivían en otros estados no se podían ver, debido a que el dinero no alcanzaba para transportarse de un estado a otro, sin contar aquellos que emigraron debido a la propia situación.

Traditions like the hallaca were greatly diminished by the prices that the ingredients had, the fruits were not found, and if they were, at a high price, and drinks even more. / Tradiciones como la hallaca se vió disminuida en gran medida por los precios que tenían los ingredientes, las frutas no se encontraban, y si se encontraban, a un alto precio, y las bebidas aún más.

The music is seen in degeneration because the new bagpipes do not have the same feeling as before, and the generations of now do not support it, listening only to the successes of years ago. / La música se ve en degeneración debido a que las nuevas gaitas no tienen a misma sensación de antes, y las generaciones de ahora no la apoyan, escuchando solo los éxitos de hace años.

And the nights were spent inside the house because of the danger of the criminals. / Y las noches se pasaban dentro de casa por el peligro de los delincuentes.
