It is celebrated since 2004 by the French Association for Respected Childbirth and then in 2011 joins the Network of Births of European Associations, which provides the slogans of every year.

Annually more countries join in this celebration, echoing the information and empowering more women.

This year the slogan "less interventions, more accompaniment" refers to respecting the body of the woman in labour, respecting her time, her space and her emotional world, the medical team must preserve the conditions of the environment and restrict the interventions to strict necessary cases, as well as encourage loving accompaniment.

Mother's rights:

🤰🏻A birth where natural times are respected, avoiding practices that are not justified.

🤰🏻Choose the place and shape (if you want anesthesia, the position where you will give birth, whether you want to walk or lie down, even if you want to give birth at home) of your labor. As long as it's safe for the mother and baby.

🤰🏻Keep you informed about the progress of the birth and the status of your baby.

🤰🏻Accompaniment by a person of your confidence and choice.

🤰🏻Immediate attachment, as long as the newborn does not require special care, promoting skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby.

🤰🏻Receive information and support on breastfeeding.

May this celebration not be just a week long, but may our rights always be respected.
