I LOVE this Woman!!
Sometimes we just get it right...despite ourselves.
I have no idea what I have done to deserve @prairiepinner, nor do I ever think I will. She is everything that I could ask for in a partner. She doesn't give me crap when my depression is acting up and I have a bad day. She gets it, sometimes she calls me on it, and just moves on with things. She gives me the space I need to get my head back in the game. I am far luckier than most people who have depression, very few people have this kind of support. I can't ask for anything better as I struggle through this illness and work to come out whole on the other side.
what are you taking for the depression? do you have a good psychiatrist?
I'm taking an SSRI and am not seeing a psychiatrist. Have seen counselors and psychologists before and didn't find that helpful. Have had reasonable results with the SSRI (at its lowest dose) so far, so am considering my options before asking for a psych referral.
I would highly recommend trying to find a psychiatrist. My general doc tried several different SSRIs and none of them seemed to work. I also saw counselors psychologists over and over, no results. Finally went to a psychiatrist, turns out I had ADD to go along with the depression, but all the docs and psychologists missed it. Treatment turned my life around. Psychiatrists are the way to go IMO
I will give it some serious thought...not sure where you're from, but I can't just walk into a psychiatrist's office here, I need a referral from my family doc (at least as far as I know).
You can definitely get a referral, just ask. I live in St Louis and was able to get an appointment without a referral, but spent hours on the phone trying to find a psychiatrist with appointments open; most had 3 month waits. Luckily I found a good one.
