Prophet fails to resurrect a dead body; A show of faith gone bad.
A pastor in Ethiopia by the names of Getayawkal Ayele made a show of himself when he attempted to bring a dead body back to life. The person who had been dead for two days had been buried and the family was still mourning him when the pastor visited and told them how he could be resurrected just like Lazarus did when Jesus raised him from the dead in the bible. The family agreed to this, believing the man of God could be possessing the powers to pull that off. They dug out the body and the pastor stood over it and started yelling for it to raise up as residents looked on. There was no sign of the body moving so the pastor decided to lay on it as he continued screaming for it to raise up.
The body failed to raise up and the residents couldn't wait any longer, angrily attacking the pastor and later got him arrested for false prophecy. It clearly wasn't this pastor's lucky day though one still wonders whether he truly is a man of God.
This was a failed attempt to resurrect a body and it all comes down to the pastor's wrong way of showing faith. God tells us in Mathew 17: 20 that you can tell a mountain to move from here to there, and it will do. But the interpretation for this is praying with belief that anything is possible under God.
The pastor only wanted to prove he has God's powers here which is against the teachings in the bible, specifically in Deuteronomy 6:16 where it is decalred that we should not put God to the test. Let's always pray but not with the intent of showing what we or God is capable of.
