What's this ?

The tendon serves to attach the muscle to the bone, it is made of collagen fibers.
Tendinitis is an inflammation of the tendon following a repetition of the friction of the fibers.
She can intervene in a sports activity or even in everyday life on a repeated movement.

All tendons may be the site of tendonitis, but the most common tendinitis is:

shoulder (tendon supraspinatus muscle);
Achilles tendon;
knee (sub-patellar tendinitis and crow's feet);
elbow (epicondylitis)
wrist (tendonitis of Quervain);
hip (tendinitis of adductors).

What to do?

At first only rest is recommended (rest of the tendon compared to the triggering activity of the wound).
Glazing several times a day for 10 minutes is a great way to reduce inflammation and pain.
We can add anti-inflammatories in case of severe pain.

An eccentric work will allow a good recovery in the active phase.
Depending on the type of tendonitis, help can be provided through physiotherapy sessions, or infiltration.

In any case, the sports recovery or work must be adapted to the pathology and allow a good recovery so as not to aggravate the problem and go to a rupture of the tendon.




Tip to avoid tendonitis

  • The warm-up is essential during a sport session, it must be general and specific to the activity.
    And start smoothly before going up gradually.
  • Hydrate well throughout the day and especially before, during and after the session.

  • Practiced hot stretching, to relax the muscles and tendons when they are more actively involved.

It may be interesting to see a specialist on the posture of the body if you are frequently subject to tendinitis, the latter will redirect you to a suitable treatment to rebalance the latter and thus avoid friction (insole, postural physiotherapy, bodybuilding, etc. ..).
