Pork Meatballs
My sis in law called to inform that she will be visiting soon and reminded that she is expecting some yummy deep fried meatballs for lunch or dinner.
I had made meatballs for her once and she must have liked them to be asking now. I got this book called 'Legacy recipes to pass on to our children' and this particular recipe was contributed by one Lily Yap.
I have made some shortcuts and Ms Lily's recipe is as follows:-
Ingredients:
Ground pork (with 20% fat) 3 lbs
Water chestnuts 10 (coarsely chopped)
Shallots 10 (coarsely chopped)
Garlic 3 pips (coarsely chopped)
Chicken stock cube 1 (crushed)
Egg 1
Flour 3 tbs
Salt 1 tsp
Pepper 1/2 tsp
Chinese 5 spice powder 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon powder 1/4 tsp
Cooking oil for deep frying
Method:
Combine all ingredients (except the cooking oil) and mix until a little sticky.
Form meatballs of about 1 inch in diameter.
Heat cooking oil in until sizzling hot. Fry mestballs in batches in medium heat until reddish brown. Drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
Serve hot with chilli sauce.
